अन्तराय-उपसर्ग-विवेचनम् / Analysis of Yogic Obstacles (Antarāyas) and Upasargas
यद्वस्तु विरसञ्चापि भोक्तुमिच्छति तत्क्षणात् । रसादिकं भवेच्चान्यत्त्रयाणां देहधारणम्
yadvastu virasañcāpi bhoktumicchati tatkṣaṇāt | rasādikaṃ bhaveccānyattrayāṇāṃ dehadhāraṇam
Whatever object is in itself tasteless—if one wishes to enjoy it, at that very moment it becomes endowed with taste and the like; and from that enjoyment there arises something else: the sustaining of the body through the three doṣa (humours).

It highlights how desire (icchā) projects “taste” and attractiveness onto objects, binding the pashu (individual soul) to sensory experience; Shaiva teaching points toward vairāgya and turning awareness to Pati (Shiva) as the real support beyond bodily maintenance.
By showing that worldly enjoyment is mind-dependent and binding, the verse implicitly directs the devotee to stabilize the mind through Saguna Shiva worship—Linga-upāsanā and devotion—so perception is purified and redirected from transient rasa to Shiva-consciousness.
Practice sense-restraint with steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and meditation on the Linga to reduce craving-driven projection; on Mahāśivarātri, combine fasting/regulated diet with mantra-japa to weaken attachment to “taste.”
