It teaches that true learning is not merely external study: the disciple’s inner self must be established in disciplined speech and understanding, which in Shaiva thought supports purification of mind and steady progress toward Shiva-realization (Pati).
Linga-worship depends on mantra, recitation, and correct ritual utterance; by placing oneself under the principle of purified speech (Vāgīśānī) and proper rule, the devotee becomes fit for Saguna Shiva worship that matures into inner contemplation of Shiva beyond limitation.
It implies disciplined mantra-training under a guru—especially careful japa and regulated recitation—so speech, mind, and understanding become aligned for sustained worship and meditation.
