इत्यादि पुण्यदेशेषु यत्र कुत्र स्थलेऽपि वा । कारयन्मातुरावासं मुक्तो भवति बन्धनात्
ityādi puṇyadeśeṣu yatra kutra sthale'pi vā | kārayanmāturāvāsaṃ mukto bhavati bandhanāt
Thus, in holy regions—or indeed in any place whatsoever—one who causes a dwelling to be made for the Mother (Devī) becomes freed from bondage.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse universalizes merit: establishing a Devī-āvāsa (temple/dwelling) anywhere—especially in puṇya-deśas—becomes a cause for release from bondage.
Significance: Temple-building/establishing Devī’s abode is framed as a direct upāya that weakens pāśa (bondage) and accrues liberating merit (puṇya) culminating in grace.
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
It teaches that selfless service (seva) to the Divine Mother—such as establishing her abode—loosens pāśa (bondage) and supports liberation through devotion aligned with Shaiva-Shakta dharma.
In Shaiva Siddhanta, Saguna worship includes honoring Śiva together with Śakti; providing an abode for the Mother complements temple-based devotion and reinforces the inseparable unity of Śiva-Śakti in practical worship.
A devotional practice of dāna and seva is implied—supporting or building a shrine/space for Devī, maintaining it with purity, and accompanying it with regular pūjā and mantra-japa (e.g., Śiva pañcākṣarī) as one’s capacity allows.
