śrīparvate mahāpuṇye gokarṇe jñānaparvate | mathurāyāmayodhyāyāṃ dvārāvatyāṃ tathaiva ca
At Śrīparvata, supremely holy; at Gokarṇa, the mountain of sacred knowledge; likewise in Mathurā, in Ayodhyā, and in Dvāravatī as well—there the Lord’s sanctifying presence is to be sought and worshiped.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Oṃkāreśvara
Sthala Purana: Śrīparvata is classically identified with Mandhātā/Omkareshwar on the Narmadā, famed for the Oṃkāra-shaped island and Śiva’s presence as jyotirliṅga; the verse lists it among major sanctifying kṣetras.
Significance: Kṣetra-smaraṇa/visit is held to purify and strengthen Śiva-bhakti; Śrīparvata especially is linked with Narmadā-parikramā and liṅga-darśana merit.
Offering: pushpa
The verse lists renowned sacred kshetras, teaching that contact with holy places—through darśana, worship, and remembrance—supports purification (śuddhi) and steady devotion to Pati (Śiva), which is a Shaiva Siddhanta doorway toward release from pāśa (bondage).
By pointing to specific kshetras, it implies Saguna worship in tangible sanctuaries—especially through Liṅga-upāsanā, temple darśana, and offerings—where the devotee approaches Śiva’s gracious presence in form while moving toward inner realization.
While visiting such kshetras, perform simple Liṅga-pūjā with water and bilva leaves, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and repeat the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with focused remembrance.
