Mahiṣāsura’s Conquest of Svarga and the Devas’ Appeal to Śiva and Viṣṇu
एतेषामपरेषां च विधेयं कर्म सोसुरः । स्वयं करोति पापात्मा दैत्यपक्ष भयंकर
eteṣāmapareṣāṃ ca vidheyaṃ karma sosuraḥ | svayaṃ karoti pāpātmā daityapakṣa bhayaṃkara

It highlights how pāpa (sinful intention) strengthens bondage (pāśa): the wicked one not only orders actions but personally engages in them, intensifying karmic consequence and fear in the world.
By contrast, Saguna Shiva as the compassionate Pati is approached through Linga-worship to purify karma; the verse underscores the danger of ego-driven action that Linga-bhakti and Shiva’s grace are meant to dissolve.
A practical takeaway is karma-shuddhi through Shiva-upasana: japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a repentant mind, supported by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrाक्षa as reminders to restrain adharmic impulses.
