Manu’s Progeny and the Birth of Iḍā
Genealogy and Dharma-Choice
कविः पुत्रो मनोः प्राज्ञश्शिवानुग्रहतोऽभवत् । भुक्त्वा सुखं दिव्यं मुक्तिं प्राप सुदुर्लभाम्
kaviḥ putro manoḥ prājñaśśivānugrahato'bhavat | bhuktvā sukhaṃ divyaṃ muktiṃ prāpa sudurlabhām
Kavi, the wise son of Manu, attained excellence through the grace of Lord Śiva. Having enjoyed divine happiness, he obtained liberation—so very difficult to attain.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it is a didactic genealogical-hagiographic note: Kavi (Manu’s son) becomes prājña through Śiva’s anugraha and attains rare mokṣa after divine enjoyment.
Significance: Teaching: even ‘sudurlabhā’ mukti is accessible when Śiva’s grace descends; worldly/celestial enjoyments are secondary to final release.
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Implicit post-mortem ascent: ‘divya sukha’ (celestial fruition) followed by mokṣa, aligning with Purāṇic sequencing of bhoga → apavarga under grace.
It emphasizes Śiva-anugraha (Śiva’s saving grace) as the decisive cause for attaining the rare goal of moksha, even after experiencing legitimate divine enjoyments.
The verse highlights that liberation is gained by Śiva’s favor; in Purāṇic practice this is sought through saguna upāsanā—especially Śiva-liṅga worship—where devotion ripens into grace and release.
The takeaway is to pursue Śiva’s anugraha through steady bhakti—daily liṅga-pūjā with the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), along with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as supportive Shaiva disciplines.
