In those hells, men devoted to sinful deeds are tormented. I shall now describe them to you in due order, O Vyāsa—listen with careful attention.
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pashu
It underscores the Shaiva principle that pāpa (sinful action) binds the paśu (individual soul) through pāśa (bondage) and results in suffering, urging vigilant listening so one may turn toward Shiva-centered dharma and purification.
By highlighting the consequences of wrongdoing, the verse indirectly points to refuge in Saguna Shiva—Linga worship, devotion, and right conduct—as the remedial path that purifies karma and turns the mind toward liberation.
Attentive śravaṇa (listening) and self-correction are implied; practically, one may adopt Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), Tripuṇḍra with bhasma, and vrata on Mahāśivarātri as acts of purification.
