One should offer wealth, grain, gold, and various garments to a knower of the Purāṇas, for well-being in this world and for peace in the world beyond.

The verse teaches that dāna (charitable giving) offered to a qualified Purāṇa-knower supports sacred transmission and purifies the giver’s bonds (pāśa), bringing welfare in this life and auspiciousness after death—aligned with Shaiva dharma leading toward Shiva’s grace.
In Saguna Shiva worship, devotion is expressed not only through pūjā to the Liṅga but also through supporting śāstra-śravaṇa and its teachers; such giving becomes an offering to Shiva’s living tradition and strengthens bhakti and right understanding.
The practical takeaway is to perform dāna—especially food (anna), cloth (vastra), and gold/wealth—after listening to or sponsoring Purāṇa recitation, dedicating the merit to Lord Shiva while maintaining japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) if one is initiated.
