भैरवावतारलीलावर्णनम् (Bhairava-avatāra-līlā-varṇanam) — “Narration of the Divine Play of Bhairava’s Descent”
पुण्डरीकदलायामे धन्ये मेऽद्य विलोचने । यद्दृश्यते महादेवो ह्याभ्यां लक्ष्मि महेश्वरः
puṇḍarīkadalāyāme dhanye me'dya vilocane | yaddṛśyate mahādevo hyābhyāṃ lakṣmi maheśvaraḥ
O Lakṣmī, blessed indeed are my eyes today—wide like lotus petals—for with them I behold Mahādeva, Maheśvara Himself.
Vishnu
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Darśana of Mahādeva is framed as supreme auspiciousness; the verse models śiva-darśana as a grace-event (anugraha) that sanctifies the devotee’s senses.
Type: stotra
The verse exalts Shiva-darśana (beholding the Lord) as a supreme blessing: the devotee’s senses become sanctified when they are used to perceive Mahādeva, the Pati (Lord) who grants grace and liberation.
It highlights devotion to Saguna Shiva—Shiva approachable in form and presence—where the highest fruit is direct “seeing” (darśana). In Linga-worship too, the devotee seeks the Lord’s merciful self-revelation through focused reverence.
Cultivate darśana-bhakti: worship with steady gaze and mind—reciting the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and meditating on Mahādeva so that perception becomes devotional and inwardly purified.
