हनूमत्प्रादुर्भावः (Hanūmat-prādurbhāvaḥ) — The Manifestation/Birth of Hanumān as Śiva’s Agency
नन्दीश्वर उवाच । अतः परं श्रुणु प्रीत्या हनुमच्चरितम्मुने । यथा चकाराशु हरो लीलास्तद्रूपतो वराः
nandīśvara uvāca | ataḥ paraṃ śruṇu prītyā hanumaccaritammune | yathā cakārāśu haro līlāstadrūpato varāḥ
Nandīśvara said: “Now then, O sage, listen with devotion to the sacred account of Hanumān—how Hara (Lord Śiva), assuming that excellent form, swiftly enacted His divine play.”
Nandīśvara (Nandi)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Introduces a līlā where Śiva assumes a particular ‘form’ (rūpa) for divine play—typical of Purāṇic revelation narratives that inspire devotion and pilgrimage storytelling.
It frames Hanumān’s greatness as rooted in Śiva’s own divine play (līlā), pointing devotees to see sacred narratives as revelations of Pati (Śiva) compassionately taking accessible, saguna forms for the uplift of beings.
By highlighting Śiva’s assumption of a specific “form” (tad-rūpa), the verse emphasizes saguna worship—approaching the transcendent Lord through manifest forms and stories—while remaining consistent with the Linga as Śiva’s supreme, worshipful presence.
The direct practice is śravaṇa (devotional listening) with prīti (love), treating the kathā as upāsanā; this can be paired with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” before or after listening to internalize the teaching.
