The verse identifies Vāmadeva as Śiva’s fourth manifest form who governs ahaṃkṛti (the sense of “I”). In Shaiva Siddhānta, liberation requires that egoity be purified and ultimately transcended through Śiva’s grace, so recognizing its presiding divine power helps the seeker move from self-centeredness to Śiva-centered awareness.
Vāmadeva is a Saguna (with attributes) expression of Śiva’s lordship over inner faculties. Linga worship trains the mind to surrender the ‘I-maker’ at Śiva’s feet—seeing that even ego and action are under Śiva’s governance—thereby turning worldly doership into devotional offering.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with the intention of softening ego-doership, combined with simple Linga abhiṣeka and offering actions mentally to Śiva (īśvara-arpaṇa-buddhi).
