Uṣā said, “In what lineage was he born—he who has stolen my heart?” Hearing her words, her companion then replied to her.

The verse shows the mind being “taken” by attachment; Shaiva Siddhanta treats such emotion as a movement of the mind that must be guided by dharma and ultimately purified through devotion to Pati (Shiva), the Lord who steadies the heart.
Though the line is narrative and romantic, it frames the human mind’s tendency to cling; in Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, the same mind is redirected into single-pointed bhakti—seeing Shiva as the rightful ‘holder’ of the heart rather than transient objects.
A practical takeaway is mantra-japa to stabilize emotion—especially Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with calm breath and a sattvic intention, so attachment becomes devotion and discernment.
