Sanatkumāra said: Hearing his words spoken in that manner, she then addressed him—who was still moved by desire.
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: teaching
The verse highlights the Shaiva insight that kama (desire) colors perception and dialogue; spiritual progress begins when desire is recognized and redirected toward Shiva-bhakti and dharma.
Though the verse is narrative, it frames a common Purāṇic contrast: desire-driven intention versus devotion-driven intention. In Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, the devotee is taught to offer motives into worship, purifying kama into single-pointed bhakti.
A practical takeaway is to precede worship with sankalpa-shuddhi (purifying intention): mentally offer desire at Shiva’s feet, then recite the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with steady breath and a calm mind.
