त्रिपुरवर्णनम् (Tripura-varṇanam) — “Description of Tripura”
पतिव्रताभिः सर्वत्र पावितं स्थलमुत्तमम् । पतिसेवनशीलाभिर्विमुखाभिः कुधर्मतः
pativratābhiḥ sarvatra pāvitaṃ sthalamuttamam | patisevanaśīlābhirvimukhābhiḥ kudharmataḥ
Every place becomes supremely sanctified wherever there are devoted, chaste wives—women steady in the service of their husbands—who have turned away from wrongful conduct.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: The verse sacralizes space through dharma embodied in pativratā conduct—parallel to how a kṣetra becomes a tīrtha by presence of the righteous.
Significance: Teaches that sanctity is not only geographic; it arises where dharma, fidelity, and restraint prevail—creating a living tīrtha.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
Offering: dipa
It teaches that holiness is not only in geography but in lived dharma: where steadfast virtue and self-discipline prevail, the environment becomes spiritually purified—supporting bhakti and auspiciousness in a Shaiva life.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana emphasizes purity (śauca), right conduct, and devotion; the verse implies that sincere household dharma and restraint create a fit space for Saguna Shiva worship, making the home itself a sanctified kṣetra.
Adopt daily śauca and niyama—truthfulness, restraint, and avoidance of kudharma—then perform simple Shiva worship (Panchakshara japa, offering water to the Linga, and if appropriate Tripuṇḍra/bhasma) with a purified mind and conduct.
