शब्दब्रह्मतनुवर्णनम् — Description of the Form of Śabda-Brahman
महोदारं महावीर्यं महापुरुषलणम् । तं दृष्ट्वा परमं रूपं कृतार्थोऽभून्मया हरिः
mahodāraṃ mahāvīryaṃ mahāpuruṣalaṇam | taṃ dṛṣṭvā paramaṃ rūpaṃ kṛtārtho'bhūnmayā hariḥ
He was most magnanimous, of immense valor, and marked with the characteristics of the Supreme Person. Upon beholding that unsurpassed, highest form, I—Hari (Viṣṇu)—became fulfilled, my purpose accomplished.
Vishnu (Hari)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse teaches that the vision (darśana) of Shiva’s supreme, auspicious form grants inner completion and spiritual fulfillment—even to Hari—highlighting Shiva as Pati, the ultimate refuge and goal.
By stressing “paramaṃ rūpam” (the supreme form), it supports Saguna worship—approaching Shiva through a perceivable form such as the Śivaliṅga—through which devotion matures into realization of the highest truth.
Practice Shiva-dhyāna (meditation on Shiva’s supreme form) alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” using reverent darśana of the Śivaliṅga to cultivate single-pointed bhakti.
