In the meantime, O noble one, the great-souled Lord brought forth the principles (tattvas). O wise and high-minded one, listen to their manner of manifestation as I describe it.
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Introduces tattva-udbhava under the ‘mahātmā’ Lord—pilgrimage and ritual are framed as practical means to traverse tattvas (from aśuddha to śuddha) toward Śiva’s grace.
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: tattva-manifestation (emanational phase of cosmogony)
It signals the transition into Shiva-centered cosmology: all tattvas arise under the Lord’s sovereignty, and knowing their order helps the seeker discern Pati (Shiva) as distinct from the manifested categories, supporting liberation-oriented insight.
By presenting Shiva as the source and governor of manifestation, it supports Saguna worship (such as Linga-upasana) as a focused means to relate to the transcendent Lord who stands beyond yet empowers all tattvas.
A practical takeaway is tattva-anusandhana (contemplation on the unfolding of principles) alongside japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to steady the mind on Shiva as the inner ruler of creation.
