FAQs

It highlights that divine purpose can express itself through a chosen form and relationship (friendship), while emphasizing tapas as a purifying discipline that ripens the soul toward Shiva’s grace and liberation.

By speaking of ‘assuming a form’ and engaging in līlā, the verse supports Saguna devotion—approaching Shiva (and Shiva’s play in creation) through accessible forms and narratives, which ultimately lead the devotee toward the transcendent reality signified by the Liṅga.

The practical takeaway is tapas with steadiness—daily japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), observance of vows, and simple austerities (like fasting or regulated living), performed with a friendly, benevolent disposition toward all beings.
