Nārada’s Austerities Described
विष्णुरुवाच । धन्यस्त्वं मुनिशार्दूल तपोनिधिरुदारधीः । भक्तित्रिकं न यस्यास्ति काममोहादयो मुने
viṣṇuruvāca | dhanyastvaṃ muniśārdūla taponidhirudāradhīḥ | bhaktitrikaṃ na yasyāsti kāmamohādayo mune
Viṣṇu said: “Blessed are you, O tiger among sages—an ocean of austerity and possessed of a noble intellect. For one in whom the threefold devotion is absent, O sage, desire, delusion, and the rest surely arise.”

The verse teaches that genuine devotion is a protective spiritual force: when devotion is missing, the mind becomes vulnerable to pasha-like bonds such as desire and delusion, which obstruct clear discernment and liberation.
