भक्तिभेदाः—ज्ञानप्रधानभक्तेः प्रशंसा
Grades of Devotees and the Praise of Knowledge-Centered Devotion
यथा येन कृता शंभोः संस्तुतिः परमात्मनः । तथा तस्मै वरो दत्तश्शंभुना तुष्टचेतसा
yathā yena kṛtā śaṃbhoḥ saṃstutiḥ paramātmanaḥ | tathā tasmai varo dattaśśaṃbhunā tuṣṭacetasā
In whatever manner anyone offered praise to Śambhu—the Supreme Self—exactly in that manner Śambhu, whose heart was pleased, granted that person a boon.
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: General tīrtha-logic: sincere stuti to Śiva yields proportionate anugraha (boon), encouraging pilgrimage/temple praise traditions.
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: dhupa
It teaches that Śiva, the Paramātmā and compassionate Pati, responds directly to sincere devotion: the devotee’s heartfelt stuti becomes a channel for Śiva’s anugraha (grace), yielding fruits aligned with that devotion.
The verse supports Saguna-upāsanā: when devotees praise and worship Śambhu in a chosen form—often the Liṅga—Śiva becomes pleased and grants boons, showing that form-based devotion can lead to divine favor and spiritual uplift.
Offer daily stuti with mantra-japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and simple Liṅga-pūjā (water, bilva leaves); the emphasis is sincerity and steady devotion rather than complexity.
