नभोवाणी-दक्ष-निन्दा तथा सती-माहात्म्य-प्रतिपादनम् / The Celestial Voice Rebukes Dakṣa and Proclaims Satī’s Greatness

“Can anyone attain auspicious welfare without first worshipping Śiva, Śambhu? What invincible pride can there be? That pride, rising up, is destroyed even today.”
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Not a site-legend; it is a rhetorical demolition of arrogance: without Śiva-arcana no kalyāṇa is possible, and pride (garva) is inevitably destroyed—anticipating the collapse of Dakṣa’s yajña.
Significance: Teaches humility as a prerequisite for pilgrimage merit; Śiva’s supremacy nullifies ‘invincible’ worldly pride, aligning with the pilgrim’s surrender (śaraṇāgati) at the shrine.
Offering: dhupa
The verse teaches that true kalyāṇa (spiritual and worldly auspiciousness) arises from turning to Pati—Lord Śiva—through worship; ego (garva) is a binding pāśa that inevitably collapses when confronted by Śiva’s reality and grace.
It affirms the necessity of approaching Śiva through concrete worship (Saguna devotion), which in Shiva Purana practice commonly includes Liṅga-pūjā; such worship disciplines the mind, dissolves pride, and aligns the devotee with Śiva’s auspicious power.
Adopt humble Śiva-arcana: daily Liṅga worship with the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), offering water and bilva leaves; keep the attitude of surrender so that pride does not arise or is quickly dissolved.
