Satī Inquires about the Departure for Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
भूषितं वृषमारोहेत्युक्ता रुद्रेण सा सती । सुभूषिता सती युक्ता ह्यगमत्पितुमंदिरम्
bhūṣitaṃ vṛṣamārohetyuktā rudreṇa sā satī | subhūṣitā satī yuktā hyagamatpitumaṃdiram
Thus addressed by Rudra—“Be adorned, O rider of the bull”—Satī, beautifully ornamented and duly prepared, set out for her father’s palace.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it narrates Satī’s departure to Dakṣa’s abode, the proximate cause for the later rupture that culminates in Vīrabhadra’s intervention and restoration of cosmic order.
Significance: Serves as a moral prelude: external adornment and readiness cannot substitute for inner alignment with Śiva; devotees read it as a cautionary step toward the yajña that lacks true devotion.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
It shows Satī moving from inner resolve to outward action after receiving Rudra’s sanction—symbolizing that when devotion is aligned with Śiva (Pati), one’s conduct becomes “yukta” (rightly ordered), even amid impending conflict.
Rudra here functions as the personal, Saguna Lord who guides the devotee; Satī’s readiness after His instruction mirrors the devotional attitude in Linga-worship—acting with Śiva’s remembrance and permission rather than mere social pressure.
The takeaway is “yukti” in devotion: before undertaking major actions, recollect Śiva through japa (e.g., the Pañcākṣarī, Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and proceed with disciplined readiness rather than impulse.
