अभिमानं च योग्यं च स्थानं पत्नी च या मम । तन्मे वद त्रिलोकेश त्वं स्रष्टा जगतां पतिः
abhimānaṃ ca yogyaṃ ca sthānaṃ patnī ca yā mama | tanme vada trilokeśa tvaṃ sraṣṭā jagatāṃ patiḥ
“Tell me of the fitting honor due to me, the proper station to be granted, and the wife who shall be mine. O Lord of the three worlds—since you are the Creator and the sovereign of the universe—declare this to me.”

Although the verse is not directly about the Liṅga, it reflects the Saguna framework of the Purana where divine authority guides worldly life; in Shaiva devotion, such guidance is ultimately oriented toward pleasing Shiva and progressing from worldly duties to liberation.
A practical takeaway is humility and surrender before divine order—supported by daily Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and wearing Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a reminder to restrain abhimāna and act in dharma.
