Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; it narrates Himācala’s completion of social/ritual preparations and his joyful waiting for Śiva’s arrival for the marriage.
Significance: Models bhakti as ‘pratīkṣā’ (joyful expectancy) and śaraṇāgati: the devotee (paśu) prepares the outer world (vyavahāra) as a vessel for inner receptivity to Śiva’s grace (anugraha).
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It shows how right worldly conduct, when completed without attachment, culminates in joyful receptivity to Śiva’s grace—symbolizing the soul’s readiness for the Lord’s presence (Pati) after orderly fulfillment of duties.
By naming Śiva as Śambhu and emphasizing His awaited arrival, the verse highlights Saguna devotion—anticipating the Lord’s manifest grace, just as devotees await Śiva’s presence through Liṅga worship and ritual hospitality (upacāra).
A practical takeaway is to complete daily duties and then enter focused Śiva-smaraṇa (remembrance), preparing for worship—such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and offering simple upacāras to the Śiva-liṅga with a calm, joyful mind.
