ब्रह्मोवाच । तदाकर्ण्य महेशस्य लौकिकं वचनं शुभम् । प्रत्यूचुः प्रहसन्तस्ते देवदेवं सदाशिवम्
brahmovāca | tadākarṇya maheśasya laukikaṃ vacanaṃ śubham | pratyūcuḥ prahasantaste devadevaṃ sadāśivam
Brahmā said: Hearing Mahēśa’s auspicious, worldly-sounding words, they replied—smiling—to Sadāśiva, the God of gods.
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It highlights Śiva’s grace: though transcendent as Sadāśiva, he can speak in an accessible, “worldly” way so beings may relate to him and respond with devotion.
Calling him Devadeva and Sadāśiva underscores Saguna worship—approaching the Supreme through a gracious, name-and-form aspect, as devotees do in Liṅga-upāsanā.
A practical takeaway is smaraṇa and japa: remember Sadāśiva as Devadeva and repeat the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a joyful, receptive mind.
