Himālaya’s Resolution to Give Pārvatī to Śiva
ऋषय ऊचुः । देवदेव महादेव परमेश महाप्रभो । शृण्वस्मद्वचनं प्रीत्या यत्कृतं सेवकैस्तव

The sages said: “O God of gods, O Mahādeva, O Supreme Lord, O Great Master—please listen with gracious delight to our words, to what has been done by your attendants.”
The sages (ṛṣis)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It models the Shaiva devotional attitude: approaching Pati (Lord Śiva) with humility, reverence, and loving request, acknowledging him as the Supreme Lord who responds through grace (anugraha).
The sages address Śiva in personal, Saguna terms—“Devadeva, Mahādeva”—showing that worship often begins with heartfelt praise and surrender, which is foundational to Linga-upāsanā and other forms of Shiva bhakti.
A practical takeaway is to begin Shiva worship with respectful invocation and prayerful listening—reciting names like “Devadeva, Mahādeva” and then offering one’s request with devotion, as in mantra-japa and pūjā.
