“If you, O Lord of the gods, are pleased—if you are willing to grant me a boon—then, showing compassion toward me, please bestow upon me these two boons.”

The verse highlights anugraha (divine grace): when the devotee approaches Śiva with humility and devotion, boons arise not from entitlement but from the Lord’s compassionate pleasure (prasāda) toward the soul.
It reflects Saguna-Śiva devotion—speaking to the personal Lord (Deveśa) who responds to bhakti. In Linga worship, the same attitude is expressed through prayer and offering, seeking Śiva’s prasāda rather than merely worldly gain.
A simple practice is heartfelt supplication before the Śiva-liṅga, accompanied by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a prayer for Śiva’s compassion (kṛpā), aligning one’s requests with dharma and liberation.
