It highlights how formidable māyā-like attraction can be: even a disciplined ascetic mind may waver. From a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, steadiness arises when the mind is anchored in Pati (Shiva) through devotion and right knowledge, not merely by suppression.
The verse implies the need for a stable support for contemplation. In practice, Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-upāsanā with mantra—gives the mind a sacred, concentrated form, helping it transcend sensory disturbance and mature toward inner realization.
Cultivate dhyāna supported by japa of the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), along with Shaiva disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to recollection and restraint of the senses.
