तारकवाक्य-शक्रविष्णुवीरभद्रयुद्धवर्णनम् — Account of Tāraka’s declarations and the battle involving Śakra (Indra), Viṣṇu, and Vīrabhadra
यावत्त्रिशूलेन तदा हंतुकामो महाबलः । वीरभद्रोऽसुरं यावत्कुमारेण निवारितः
yāvattriśūlena tadā haṃtukāmo mahābalaḥ | vīrabhadro'suraṃ yāvatkumāreṇa nivāritaḥ
Just as the mighty Vīrabhadra, desiring to slay the asura with his trident, was about to strike, Kumāra intervened and restrained him.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
It highlights that even Shiva’s fierce, justice-bearing power (Vīrabhadra) is guided by higher discernment and dharmic restraint (Kumāra), showing that divine action is never mere rage but purposeful order.
Vīrabhadra and Kumāra are Saguna expressions of Shiva’s governance of the cosmos—protection, correction, and balance—reminding devotees that the Linga signifies the one Shiva whose powers act in harmony, not contradiction.
Practice japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with the inner bhāva of restraint and clarity, offering bhasma (tripuṇḍra) as a reminder to subdue impulsive anger and act in alignment with dharma.
