प्राजापत्यं भवेद्यर्हिं तर्ह्येको हि भवान्भवेत् । तदा पूजा च सम्पूर्णान्यथा सर्वा च निष्फला
prājāpatyaṃ bhavedyarhiṃ tarhyeko hi bhavānbhavet | tadā pūjā ca sampūrṇānyathā sarvā ca niṣphalā
When the Prājāpatya condition (connected with Brahmā) arises, then you should remain alone and self-restrained. Only then does worship become complete; otherwise, all worship becomes fruitless.

It teaches that Shiva-worship bears fruit when supported by niyama (discipline) and inner restraint; without the right observance and focused mind, ritual action becomes empty and fails to mature into grace (anugraha).
Linga-puja is not only external offering but concentrated, regulated worship. The verse stresses proper conduct—especially restraint and single-pointedness—so Saguna worship becomes ‘complete’ and capable of revealing Shiva’s presence.
Maintain solitude/withdrawal and self-control during the relevant observance; perform Shiva-puja with focused japa (such as the Panchakshara) and a disciplined routine, rather than distracted or socially mixed worship.
