Sannyāsa Maṇḍala Vidhi—Procedure for the Renunciate Mandala
दलानि रक्तवर्णानि कल्पयेत्कल्पवित्तमः । दलबाह्ये तु कृष्णेन रंध्राणि परिपूरयेत्
dalāni raktavarṇāni kalpayetkalpavittamaḥ | dalabāhye tu kṛṣṇena raṃdhrāṇi paripūrayet
The adept, skilled in sacred visualization, should arrange the petals as red in color; and on the outer side of the petals, he should fill in the openings with black, completing the form in proper order.

It teaches disciplined inner and outer worship: precise visualization and orderly completion of the sacred form trains the mind to become steady (ekāgratā) and fit to contemplate Pati (Shiva) beyond distractions.
The verse supports saguna-upāsanā by prescribing a concrete sacred design (often used as an aid in Shiva-puja). Such forms purify attention and prepare the devotee to realize Shiva as the indwelling reality beyond form.
A color-specific mandala/lotus visualization used during Shiva worship—constructing petals as red and completing outer gaps with black—serving as a meditative support alongside mantra-japa (such as the Panchakshara).
