oṃmityante japandevayajanampūrayettataḥ | tataśśāntirbhavettasya doṣasya hi munīśvara
At the conclusion, one should complete the worship of the Deity by repeating “Oṁ.” Then, O lord among sages, that (incidental) fault in the rite becomes pacified, and peace is established.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Sthala Purana: Concluding ‘Oṃ’ functions as a śānti-seal (saṃhāra/saṃpūraṇa marker) to complete deva-yajana and pacify incidental ritual defects.
Significance: General: proper completion (pūraṇa) of worship with praṇava brings śānti; emphasizes correctness of kriyā as support for inner purity.
Mantra: oṃ
Role: liberating
It teaches that sacred sound (Oṁ) seals the rite: concluding worship with Oṁ stabilizes the mind in śānti and neutralizes minor ritual imperfections, aligning the act of worship with Shiva’s grace.
In Saguna worship such as Linga-puja, the closing utterance of Oṁ functions as a completion (pūraṇa) of the offering—returning the devotee’s attention from external acts to the one Supreme Lord they signify.
Finish the puja by softly repeating “Oṁ” as concluding japa, letting the breath settle; this serves as a simple prayascitta-like closure that brings calm and removes incidental doṣa in the ritual.
