Paramātma-Svarūpa-Nirṇaya: Strī–Puṃ–Napuṃsaka-Vicāra

वियदादि क्रमादासीदुत्पन्नम्मुनिपुङ्गव । आद्यं मिथुनमारभ्य पञ्चमं यन्मयं विदुः
viyadādi kramādāsīdutpannammunipuṅgava | ādyaṃ mithunamārabhya pañcamaṃ yanmayaṃ viduḥ
O foremost of sages, beginning with ether and proceeding in due order, the manifested creation came into being. From the first pair onward, the fifth is known by the wise to be constituted of that very essence.

It frames creation as an ordered unfolding from subtle to gross, pointing the seeker to discern the underlying essence behind the elements—ultimately guiding the mind from the manifested world toward Shiva as the supreme ground (Pati) beyond pasha (bondage).
By describing the universe as a sequential manifestation, it supports Linga-worship as contemplation of the source and support of all tattvas: Saguna forms aid concentration, while the Linga signifies the transcendent basis from which the elements arise and into which they resolve.
A practical takeaway is tattva-anusandhāna (contemplation of the elements in order) paired with japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to withdraw attention from the produced elements back to the Lord who is their inner essence.
