नमस्कृत्य ब्राह्मणेभ्यो दक्षिणां च स्वश क्तितः । दत्त्वा क्षमापय्य च तान्विसृज्य च ततः क्रमात्
namaskṛtya brāhmaṇebhyo dakṣiṇāṃ ca svaśa ktitaḥ | dattvā kṣamāpayya ca tānvisṛjya ca tataḥ kramāt
Having bowed to the brāhmaṇas and given them the dakṣiṇā (honorarium) according to one’s capacity, one should seek their pardon; then, respectfully dismissing them, one should proceed thereafter in due order.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Dakṣiṇā and kṣamā-yācñā purify the performer’s intention and remove ritual faults (doṣa), supporting eligibility for Śiva’s grace (anugraha) in Siddhānta’s caryā/karma purification stage.
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that Shaiva worship is completed through humility and ethical closure—honoring the learned, giving within one’s means, and seeking forgiveness—purifying the devotee’s intention (bhāva) and removing subtle faults that obstruct grace.
After Linga or Saguna Shiva worship, the rite is traditionally sealed by respectful offerings and reconciliation (kṣamā), affirming that devotion to Shiva must express itself as dharma toward Shiva’s devotees and the custodians of Vedic-ritual order.
Perform the concluding steps of pūjā: offer dakṣiṇā as able, do kṣamā-prārthanā (a forgiveness prayer), and complete the rite in proper sequence; this aligns with disciplined worship alongside mantra-japa and other Shaiva observances.
