The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava
त्वया त्वविदितं किंचिन्ना स्ति लोकेषु कुत्रचित् । तथापि तव वक्ष्यामि लोकानुग्रहकारिणः
tvayā tvaviditaṃ kiṃcinnā sti lokeṣu kutracit | tathāpi tava vakṣyāmi lokānugrahakāriṇaḥ
Nothing whatsoever anywhere in the worlds is unknown to you. Yet, for the welfare of the worlds, I shall still speak to you of those matters that bestow grace upon all beings.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
The verse highlights Shiva’s anugraha (grace): even when the listener is already exalted in knowledge, Shiva teaches for the upliftment of all beings, showing that liberation depends not only on information but on the Lord’s compassionate guidance.
It frames Shiva’s instruction as loka-anugraha—teachings meant to guide embodied devotees toward accessible Saguna worship (such as Linga-upasana), through which Shiva’s grace becomes tangible and transformative.
The takeaway is to receive Shiva’s instruction with humility and apply it in daily sadhana—especially japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and devotional worship performed for inner purification and the welfare of all.
