Mantra 14

Sukta 1.38

Rishi: Ghoṣā Kāksīvatī (traditional)
Devata: Parjanya (as simile) / the power of mantra; hymn context remains Maruts-cycle but verse foregrounds poetic craft
Chandas: Gāyatrī explicitly referenced; the verse instructs singing gāyatra (meter-reference may be meta-poetic rather than the verse’s own meter)

mimī́hi ślókām āsýe parjányá iva tátanaḥ | gā́ya gāyatrám ukthyàm ||

Measure out the inspired utterance in the mouth, as Parjanya spreads the rain; sing the gāyatra—fit for the solemn recitation—so the rhythm may become a vessel for the descending truth-force.
