निकुम्भिला-यज्ञविघ्नः — Vibhishana’s Counsel and Lakshmana’s March to Nikumbhila
उद्यमःक्रियतांवीरहर्षःसमुपसेव्यताम् ।प्राप्तव्यायदितेसीताहन्तव्याश्चनिशाचराः ।।6.85.9।।
atha tasyām avasthāyāṁ lakṣmaṇaṁ rāvaṇānujaḥ | pareṣām ahitaṁ vākyam arthasādhakam abravīt || 6.86.1 ||
Then, in that situation, Rāvaṇa’s younger brother addressed Lakṣmaṇa with words that would accomplish the purpose—words harmful to the enemy.
"Let efforts be made to recover Sita. Let enthusiasm be restored to recover Sita. Rakshasas will be exterminated."
Dharma includes strategic speech in defense of righteousness—using effective counsel to protect the just side and restrain adharma.
As events shift into the next phase, Vibhīṣaṇa turns to Lakṣmaṇa with practical, goal-oriented guidance against the enemy.
Practical wisdom (nīti) aligned with dharma—choosing words that serve the mission and safeguard allies.
