Shloka 6.81.32

इन्द्रजितो मायासीतावधः — Indrajit’s Illusory Sita Episode and Hanuman’s Rebuke

त्तामिन्द्रजित् स्त्रियंहत्वाहनूमन्तमुवाच ह ।।6.81.31।।मयारामस्यपश्येमांकोपेन च ।एषाविशस्तावैदेहीनिष्फलोवःपरिश्रमः ।।6.81.32।।

tām indrajit striyaṃ hatvā hanūmantam uvāca ha | mayā rāmasya paśyemāṃ kopeṇa ca | eṣā viśastā vaidehī niṣphalo vaḥ pariśramaḥ ||

After killing that woman, Indrajit said to Hanumān, “Look—Rāma’s Vaidehī has been hewn down by me in wrath. Your efforts have become fruitless.”

Indrajith killed that woman and said to Hanuman" see this Vaidehi, Rama's wife, cut up by my sword. Your exertion is useless now."

It reinforces the Ramayana’s insistence that dharma requires adherence to truth; deliberate falsehood aimed at despair is a hallmark of adharma.

The same taunt is repeated/preserved in the recension as a separate verse index, continuing Indrajit’s attempt to shatter morale.

The virtue under pressure is steadfastness (dhṛti): not abandoning righteous purpose due to enemy-crafted appearances.
