Shloka 6.75.13

लङ्कादाह-प्रचोदनं तथा वानर-राक्षस-समरारम्भः (The Burning of Lanka and the Outbreak of Battle)

रोमजंवालजंचर्मव्याघ्रजंचण्डजंबहु ।।6.75.12।।मुक्तामणिविचित्रांश्चप्रासादांश्चसमन्ततः ।विविधानस्त्रसंयोगानग्निर्दहतितत्रवै ।।6.75.13।।

vividhān astrasaṃyogān agnir dahati tatra vai ||

There, indeed, the fire burned up heaps and assemblages of many kinds of weapons.

With fire all over, rugs made of hair of animals, whisks made of fur of animals, tiger skins, musk, wonderful pearls, and gems in laid dwellings of many kinds, and clusters of war weapons were burnt.

Instruments of violence are not ultimate safeguards; when disorder prevails, even arsenals perish—dharma, not weaponry, sustains a realm.

The conflagration spreads to armories and weapon-stores, consuming them.

Detachment and clarity about power—recognizing the transience of force and possessions.
