Shloka 6.70.56

त्रिशिरा–देवान्तक–महोदर–मत्त (महापार्श्व) वधः | Slaying of Trisira, Devantaka, Mahodara, and Matta (Mahaparsva)

तंपुरस्तात् स्थितंदृष्टवावानरंपर्वतोपमम् ।आजघानोरसिक्रुद्धोगदयावज्रकल्पया ।।।।

taṃ purastāt sthitaṃ dṛṣṭvā vānaraṃ parvatopamam |

ājaghānorasi kruddho gadayā vajrakalpayā ||6.70.56||

Seeing the vānara standing before him like a mountain, the enraged rākṣasa struck him on the chest with a mace like a thunderbolt.

Again, seeing Rshaba standing in front like a mountain, enraged Mahaparsva hit him on the chest with the mace that was like a thunderbolt.

Ṛṣabha
R
rākṣasa (attacker, contextual: Matta/Mahāpārśva)
G
gadā (mace)
V
vajra (thunderbolt, simile)

The verse contrasts steadfastness with rage: Ṛṣabha stands firm, while the foe acts from anger. Dharma values courage with discipline, not violence driven by krodha.

The rākṣasa responds to Ṛṣabha’s challenge by delivering a crushing blow to his chest.

Ṛṣabha’s steadfast bravery is implied; the opponent’s defining trait here is wrathful aggression.
