The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
अथास्यकवचंशुभ्रंजाम्भूनदमयंशुभम् ।प्रच्छादयामासशरैस्सन्ध्याभ्रमिवमारुतः ।।।।
athāsya kavacaṃ śubhraṃ jāmbhūnadamayaṃ śubham |
pracchādayāmāsa śaraiḥ sandhyābhram iva mārutaḥ ||
Then he blanketed that radiant, auspicious armor of pure gold with arrows, like the wind veiling the cloud-mass of evening twilight.
Then he covered Kumbhakarna's glittering golden shield with arrows just as the evening wind covered the cloud.
Dharma is reflected as unwavering effort in a just cause—sustained, methodical action rather than impulsive collapse before an imposing opponent.
Lakṣmaṇa intensifies his attack, showering Kumbhakarṇa’s golden armor with arrows.
Perseverance—continuing the fight with strategic pressure.
