Your word will not prove false—of that there is no doubt; he must sleep. Yet let a time be fixed for him, both for sleeping and for waking.
"Your words will not become untrue, no doubt. Sleep, he must but waking time may be fixed."
Satya is upheld: Brahmā’s pronouncement must stand. At the same time, the verse introduces moderated restraint—setting limits to a punishment to balance order and continuity.
Rāvaṇa concedes the inevitability of the curse but requests that a regulated cycle of sleep and waking be निर्धारित (fixed).
Pragmatism: Rāvaṇa seeks a workable adjustment while acknowledging the inviolability of Brahmā’s truth.
