There, the Rākṣasas—enraged—wielding spears and javelins, struck down the Vānaras with exceedingly dreadful weapons.

Great heroes of the Vanara leaders, chiefs of army sportively waged a great battle and crushed Rakshasas repeatedly.।। ityārṣēvālmīkīyēśrīmadrāmāyaṇēādikāvyēyuddhakāṇḍēpañcapañcāśassargaḥ ।।This is the end of the fifty fifth sarga of Yuddha Kanda of the first epic the holy Ramayana composed by sage Valmiki.

The verse portrays the destructive momentum of anger in war; dharma calls for control of rage and for violence to be restrained and justified, not driven by fury.

A fierce phase of combat unfolds where enraged Rākṣasas attack and bring down many Vānaras using spears and other weapons.

Not a virtue but a warning-sign: uncontrolled krodha (anger) leading to cruelty.
