In that battle, as the impetuous fighters raged and roared at one another in wrath, a vast and swelling din was heard.
A tremendous sound thundered in that war when they fought with exceeding impetuosity with one another and yelled at each other.
Anger (krodha) multiplies conflict: dharma requires mastery over rage, because fury turns combat into chaos and blinds one to right conduct.
The fighting reaches a pitch where mutual roaring and wrath create an overwhelming battlefield clamor.
The verse primarily depicts the opposite of virtue—krodha and uncontrolled aggression—implicitly praising self-control as the dharmic alternative.
