सुपर्णागमनम् (Garuda’s Arrival and the Release from the Serpent-Arrow Bond)
विभीषणस्तुरामस्यदृष्टवागात्रंशरैश्चितम् ।लक्ष्मणस्यचधर्मात्माबभूवव्यथितस्तदा ।।6.50.13।।
vibhīṣaṇas tu rāmasya dṛṣṭvā gātraṃ śaraiś citam |
lakṣmaṇasya ca dharmātmā babhūva vyathitas tadā ||
But Vibhīṣaṇa, righteous at heart, on seeing Rāma’s body and Lakṣmaṇa’s as well—filled with arrows—became anguished then.
On seeing the body of Rama and Lakshmana fully covered by arrows, Vibheeshana also became piteous and sad.
Dharma is not cold duty alone; it includes compassionate solidarity—Vibhīṣaṇa’s righteous nature expresses itself as sorrow at the suffering of the just.
Vibhīṣaṇa sees Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa grievously wounded by arrows and reacts with deep distress.
Vibhīṣaṇa’s compassion and loyalty to righteousness, even while newly aligned with Rāma’s side.
