सीताविलापः—त्रिजटासान्त्वनं च (Sita’s Lament and Trijata’s Consolation)
अनृतंनोक्तपूर्वंमेनचवक्ष्येकदाचन ।चारित्रसुखशीलत्वात् प्रविष्टाअसिमनःमम ।।।।
anṛtaṃ noktapūrvaṃ me na ca vakṣye kadācana | cāritrasukhaśīlatvāt praviṣṭā asi mano mama ||
Never have I spoken falsehood before, nor shall I ever speak it; by your gentle and virtuous nature, you have entered the very depths of my heart.
"I have not uttered untruth earlier nor shall I do now. Indeed, you have found entry into my mind being a woman of good disposition."
Satya (truthfulness) as a pillar of dharma: credibility is built by a lifelong refusal to speak untruth, especially in moments of crisis.
To make his reassurance trustworthy, the speaker vows his commitment to truth and expresses heartfelt regard for Sītā’s character.
Integrity—truth as consistent personal practice, not merely convenient speech.
