Shloka 6.47.7

पुष्पकविमानेन सीताया युद्धभूमिदर्शनम् (Sita Shown the Battlefield in the Pushpaka)

हताविन्द्रजिताख्यातवैदेह्यारामलक्ष्मणौ ।पुष्पकंतत्समारोप्यदर्शयध्वंहतौरणे ।।।।

hatāv indrajitākhyātā vaidehyā rāmalaḳṣmaṇau |

puṣpakaṃ tat samāropya darśayadhvaṃ hatau raṇe ||

“Indrajit has slain Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa in battle. Place Vaidehī in the Puṣpaka chariot and show her the two lying slain upon the battlefield.”

"Rama and Lakshmana are killed by Indrajith in war. Take Vaidehi in the aerial car and show her."

The verse highlights adharma through deliberate deception: using false appearances to crush another’s faith. By contrast, Ramayana dharma upholds truth (satya) and righteous means, especially toward the vulnerable.

Rāvaṇa orders his men to take Sītā in the Puṣpaka chariot and show her a staged scene that Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa have been killed by Indrajit, aiming to break her resolve.

Sītā’s steadfast fidelity is the implied target: the plot exists because her loyalty and moral firmness have not been shaken by threats alone.
