शरबन्धनम् (The Binding by Arrows) / Indrajit’s Illusory Assault and the Vanaras’ Consolation
समाश्वास्यतुसुग्रीवंराक्षसेन्द्रोविभीषणः ।।6.46.44।।विद्रुतंवानरानीकंतत्समाश्वासयत्पुनः ।
samāśvāsya tu sugrīvaṃ rākṣasendro vibhīṣaṇaḥ | vidrutaṃ vānarānīkaṃ tat samāśvāsayat punaḥ ||
Having reassured Sugrīva, Vibhīṣaṇa—the lord among the Rākṣasas—then again reassured that Vānara host which had begun to scatter in panic.
The king of Rakshasas, Vibheeshana having assured Sugriva, knowing the Vanara army he reassured them.
Dharma in alliance is service to the righteous cause: Vibhīṣaṇa supports the coalition by restoring courage and preventing disorder.
The Vānara army begins to break formation; Vibhīṣaṇa first steadies Sugrīva and then turns to calm the fleeing troops.
Reliability and loyalty—Vibhīṣaṇa acts as a stabilizing ally in the hour of crisis.
