समुद्रतट-प्रयाणम् तथा वेलावन-निवेशः
March to the Seacoast and Encampment at the Shore
द्रोणमात्रप्रमाणानि लम्बमानानि वानराः ।ययुः पिबन्त हृष्टास्ते मधूनि मधुपिङ्गलाः ।।।।
droṇamātrapramāṇāni lambamānāni vānarāḥ |
yayuḥ pibanta hṛṣṭās te madhūni madhupiṅgalāḥ ||
Those honey-eyed vānaras went on their way, delighted as they drank honey from great hanging combs, each as large as a droṇa-measure.
The tawny-eyed monkeys went joyfully drinking the honey from the large honeycombs hanging there.
Dharma values moderation: enjoyment is not condemned, but indulgence can weaken readiness for duty.
As the vānaras travel, they find large honeycombs and drink honey joyfully.
The verse indirectly highlights vigilance (apramāda) as the needed virtue during a campaign, even when temptations appear.
