लङ्काद्वारव्यूहवर्णनम् / Disposition at the Gates of Lanka
वानराएवनश्चिह्नंस्वजनेऽस्मिन् भविष्यति ।।।।वयंतुमानुषेणैवसप्तयोत्प्यामहेपरान् ।अहमेषममभ्रात्रालक्ष्मणेनमहौजसौ ।।।।आत्मनापञ्चमश्चायंसखाममविभीषणः ।
vānarā eva naḥ cihnaṃ svajane 'smin bhaviṣyati |
vayaṃ tu mānuṣeṇaiva sapta yotsyāmahe parān |
aham eṣa mama bhrātrā lakṣmaṇena mahaujasā |
ātmanā pañcamaś cāyaṃ sakhā mama vibhīṣaṇaḥ ||
Among our own side, the very sign by which we will be recognized is that we are with the Vānaras. But we seven alone will fight the enemies in human form—here am I, along with my mighty brother Lakṣmaṇa; and as the fifth by my own person is this friend of mine, Vibhīṣaṇa.
"To know our own people the Vanaras are the sign of recognition Chivalrous Lakshmana, my brother, similarly five of us and our friend Vibheeshana, these seven people alone will wage war in human form."
Rama affirms loyalty and righteous alliance: standing openly with trustworthy companions is part of dharma, and recognition comes from one’s chosen, ethical association rather than disguise or deceit.
Rama speaks plainly about who will fight and in what form, emphasizing transparency and truthful intention in warfare—acting without concealment toward allies and maintaining integrity in purpose.
