Shloka 6.35.17

माल्यवानुपदेशः — Malyavan’s Counsel, Portents in Laṅkā, and the Proposal of Alliance

विषयेषुप्रसक्तेनयत्किञ्चित्कारणात्वया ।।।।ऋषीणामग्नकल्पानामुद्वेगोजनितोमहान् ।

viṣayeṣu prasaktena yat-kiñcit kāraṇāt tvayā | ṛṣīṇām agni-kalpānām udvego janito mahān |

Because you are engrossed in sense-pleasures, on some account or other you have stirred great distress among the seers—those who are like fire in the power of their austerity.

"Being engaged in matters of sense pleasures you have created great agitation(disturbance) in the minds of the seers (engaged in penance) who resemble gods of burning fire."

Indriya-nigraha (control of the senses) as essential to righteous rule and social harmony.
